How to use the Volume Booster tool
- Choose one or more audio or video files.
- Move the slider, or turn on normalize.
- Click “Preview 15 s” to listen.
- Click “Apply and save” and download the result.
Boost or normalize?
- Boost raises the volume by a fixed amount. +6 dB sounds about one and a half times as loud. A built-in soft limiter rounds off peaks so the sound does not crackle.
- Normalize finds the loudest moment and raises everything so that it reaches just below the maximum. No distortion at all, but quiet files with one loud peak gain little.
Tips
For speech recorded far from the microphone, try +10 to +15 dB. For music, small changes of +3 to +6 dB keep the dynamics natural. If the preview sounds harsh, lower the boost a little. Negative values make a file quieter, for example to match it with other tracks.

Frequently asked questions
How much louder can I make it?
Up to +20 dB, which is roughly four times as loud. Beyond that, noise gets louder too and quality drops.
Will boosting cause distortion?
Peaks that would go over the maximum are softly limited instead of clipped, which avoids harsh crackling. Very large boosts can still sound compressed.
Can I boost the sound of a video?
You can open a video, and you get its soundtrack as MP3 or WAV. The tool does not write video files.
Can I process many files?
Yes. The same setting is applied to every file, and you can download all of them as a ZIP.
