How to use the Split PDF tool
- Choose the PDF you want to split.
- Pick “Every page” or “Custom page ranges”.
- For custom ranges, type them like 1-3, 4, 5- (the last means “page 5 to the end”).
- Click “Split PDF” and download the files one by one or as a ZIP.
When splitting a PDF is useful
Large PDFs are hard to share and often contain more than the recipient needs. Splitting lets you send only the relevant chapter of a manual, separate a scanned stack of receipts into individual documents, or pull the signed page out of a long contract.
Teachers split exam packs into single worksheets, accountants separate bank statements by month, and lawyers extract exhibits from a bundle. Each new file keeps the original page content and quality.
How to write page ranges
Separate ranges with commas. Each range becomes its own PDF:
- 1-3 creates one file with pages 1, 2 and 3.
- 4 creates a file with only page 4.
- 5- creates a file from page 5 to the last page.
- 1-2, 3-10, 11- splits a document into three parts.
The page count of your file appears next to the options as soon as you choose it, so you know where the document ends.
Privacy
Your files are processed on your own device and are never uploaded to a server. Splitting is done by copying pages into new documents in your browser memory, so even very sensitive PDFs stay with you.
Frequently asked questions
Can I extract just one page from a PDF?
Yes. Choose “Custom page ranges” and type the page number, for example 7. You will get a PDF with only that page.
Does splitting reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied as they are, without re-compressing text or images.
How do I get all files at once?
When there is more than one result, click “Download all (ZIP)” to save them in a single archive.
What if I want to remove pages instead?
Use the Delete PDF Pages tool: it keeps one file and removes the pages you list.
