How PDF to Word conversion works
A PDF does not store paragraphs and tables the way Word does. It stores letters and lines at exact positions on a page. The converter analyses those positions, rebuilds paragraphs, detects tables and places images, and then writes a real Word document that you can edit.
Documents created from Word or another text editor convert best. Complex magazine layouts may need some touch-ups after conversion.
Scanned PDFs
If your PDF is a scan, its pages are pictures without real text, so Word will show images that you cannot edit. In that case, first extract the text with our PDF OCR tool, then paste it into Word.
Privacy and security
Your file is sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection to our own conversion server, converted, and deleted immediately after the result is sent back. It is never stored, shared or looked at, and the converter has no internet access of its own.
Frequently asked questions
Will the formatting be the same?
Text, fonts, tables and images are kept for most documents. Complex layouts may need small adjustments.
Why can’t I edit the text in the result?
The PDF is probably a scan. Use PDF OCR to get the text first.
What are the limits?
25 MB and 50 pages per file. Split larger PDFs with Split PDF first.
Can I convert a password-protected PDF?
No. Remove the password first.
