Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-10-12

This policy explains what data DocPelican (docpelican.com) processes. In short: files and text you use with our tools stay on your device, except for a few Office conversions where the file is deleted right after converting, and we do not ask for an account.

Files and text you use in the tools

Almost all tools run in your web browser. Files you choose and text you type are processed on your own device and are not uploaded to our servers or to anyone else. When you close or reload the page, they are gone. The exceptions are described in the next section.

Office conversions on our server

Some Office conversions (Word, Excel and PowerPoint to PDF, and PDF to Word) cannot run in a browser. For these tools only, the file you choose is sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection to our own conversion server. It is stored in a temporary folder only for the few seconds the conversion takes and is deleted immediately after the result is sent back to you. We do not keep copies, do not look at the content, and do not use files for any other purpose. To prevent abuse, the server counts conversions per IP address for one hour, in memory only.

DNS lookup

The DNS lookup tool sends the domain name you enter directly from your browser to Cloudflare’s public DNS resolver (1.1.1.1) using DNS over HTTPS, with Google Public DNS as a fallback. The query does not pass through our server. Cloudflare and Google process these queries under their own privacy policies for public DNS. The MAC address lookup downloads the public IEEE vendor list to your browser and searches it there.

Website analytics

We use a self-hosted, privacy-friendly analytics tool (Umami) to count page views and which tools are used. It does not use cookies, does not collect personal data and does not track you across websites. IP addresses are not stored.

Advertising

The site is funded by advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we ask for your consent through a Google-certified consent banner before personalised ads or ad cookies are used, and you can change your choice at any time via the “Privacy and cookie settings” link that the banner provides.

You can learn how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and turn off personalised advertising in Google Ad Settings or at aboutads.info.

Server logs

Like every website, our web server briefly processes technical data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver pages and protect against abuse. These logs are kept for a short time and are not used to identify you.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data and to object to processing. Because we do not collect personal data through the tools, there is usually nothing to access or delete. For anything related to privacy, contact us at hello@docpelican.com.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
