Ratios for social media

  • 1:1: Instagram feed posts, profile pictures, marketplace photos.
  • 4:5: portrait posts on Instagram and Facebook that take more space in the feed.
  • 16:9: YouTube thumbnails, presentations, website banners.
  • 9:16: Stories, Reels, TikTok and Shorts.
  • 3:2 and 4:3: classic photo prints and camera formats.

Quality

Cropping only cuts away pixels. The part you keep is not resized, so it stays as sharp as the original. To make the result smaller in pixels, use Resize Image afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

Does cropping reduce quality?

No. The kept area has exactly the same pixels as the original. Only JPG and WebP output are re-encoded at high quality.

Can I crop to an exact size like 1080 x 1080?

Yes. Type the width and height in pixels and move the box to the right place.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. Drag the box and its corners with your finger.

Are photo details (EXIF) kept?

No. The cropped image is saved without location and camera data, which is good for privacy.
