Excel to CSV converter

Export spreadsheets to CSV for imports into CRMs, databases, online shops and other tools. Every sheet can become its own CSV file.

Private: works in your browser, nothing is uploaded.

How to use the Excel to CSV tool

  1. Choose one or more .xlsx files.
  2. Pick the delimiter and whether to export all sheets.
  3. Click “Convert to CSV” and download.

Which delimiter should I choose?

  • Comma is the international standard and what most software and programming tools expect.
  • Semicolon is what Excel uses in many European countries, where the comma is the decimal separator.
  • Tab avoids problems when your data contains commas and semicolons.

The “UTF-8 BOM” option adds an invisible marker that tells Excel the file is UTF-8, so accented letters, Cyrillic and other alphabets display correctly when you open the CSV in Excel. Turn it off if the CSV goes into a database or script that does not expect it.

What is exported

Cell values as you see them: formulas are exported as their calculated results, dates as YYYY-MM-DD, and empty rows are kept so row numbers match the original sheet. Formatting, colors, charts and images are not part of CSV.

Privacy

This conversion runs entirely in your browser. Your file is never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert old .xls files?

Not in the browser. Open the file in Excel or LibreOffice and save it as .xlsx first.

How do I export all sheets?

Keep “Every sheet as a separate CSV” selected and download them together as a ZIP.

Why do special characters look wrong in Excel?

Make sure “Add UTF-8 BOM” is enabled.

Are formulas kept?

No. CSV stores values only, so you get the calculated results.
