Color formats explained
- HEX (#0071E3): the standard for web design and CSS. Two hexadecimal digits each for red, green and blue.
- RGB (0, 113, 227): the same red, green and blue values in decimal, from 0 to 255.
- HSL (211°, 100%, 45%): hue, saturation and lightness. Easy to adjust: change only the lightness to get darker or lighter shades of the same color.
- CMYK: cyan, magenta, yellow and black, used in printing. Screen and print colors never match perfectly, so treat converted CMYK as a starting point and check with your printer.
Contrast for readable text
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) recommend a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text. The converter shows the ratio of your color against white and against black, so you can see immediately which text color works on it.
