How to use the HEIC to JPG tool

  1. Choose your .heic or .heif photos.
  2. Select JPG or PNG and the quality.
  3. Click “Convert to JPG”. The converter loads once and then works offline.
  4. Download the photos one by one or as a ZIP.

What is HEIC?

Since iOS 11, iPhones save photos in HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) format. It keeps the same quality as JPG at about half the file size, which saves space on your phone.

The downside is compatibility: older Windows versions, many web forms, printing kiosks and some Android apps cannot open HEIC files. Converting to JPG makes your photos universally usable.

How to avoid HEIC on iPhone

If you always need JPG, open Settings on your iPhone, go to Camera, then Formats, and choose “Most Compatible”. New photos will be saved as JPG. When you share photos via AirDrop or email, iOS often converts them automatically, but files copied by cable or from iCloud on a PC stay in HEIC.

Privacy

Images are processed on your own device and are never uploaded to a server. This matters for personal photos: nothing is sent to a cloud service.

Frequently asked questions

Is HEIC to JPG conversion lossless?

JPG is a lossy format, but at 90% quality the photo looks the same. Choose PNG if you need a lossless copy.

Why does the first conversion take a moment?

The HEIC decoder (about 1 MB) is loaded the first time. After that, conversions are fast.

Are Live Photos supported?

The still image of a Live Photo is converted. The short video part is not included.

Is EXIF data kept?

No. Camera details and GPS location are removed, which is good for privacy when you share the photo.
