How to use the Favicon Generator tool
- Choose a square image, ideally PNG or SVG at least 512 x 512 px.
- Check the previews at each size.
- Click “Create favicons” and download the ZIP.
- Upload the files to the root of your site and paste the HTML snippet into the head section.
What you get
- favicon.ico with 16, 32 and 48 px images for browser tabs and older browsers.
- favicon-16x16.png and favicon-32x32.png for modern browsers.
- apple-touch-icon.png (180 px) for iPhone and iPad home screens.
- android-chrome 192 and 512 px and site.webmanifest for Android and installable web apps.
Tips for a good favicon
Simple shapes and strong contrast work best, because a browser tab shows only 16 x 16 pixels. Use your logo mark, not the full logo with text. Transparent backgrounds are kept in the ICO and PNG files. The Apple icon gets a white background because iOS does not support transparency there.
Privacy
Everything runs in your browser. Your files and text are not uploaded to our server or stored anywhere.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I put the files?
Upload them to the root folder of your website so that /favicon.ico opens in the browser, then add the HTML snippet to the head of your pages.
Can I convert any PNG to ICO?
Yes. Non-square images are centred on a transparent square so nothing gets stretched.
Do I still need favicon.ico?
Many tools and older browsers still request /favicon.ico directly, so it is worth including alongside the PNG icons.
My new favicon does not show up
Browsers cache favicons aggressively. Open the icon URL directly, or try a private window.
